本片讲述的是在第二次世界大战时期,法属摩洛哥北端的城市卡萨布兰卡成为难民的集中地,他们想从这里逃出纳粹的控制,他们最喜欢到里克酒店去,老板里克以前是一个反法西斯者.反纳粹领导人拉兹洛和妻子伊尔莎来到卡萨布兰卡准备逃往美国,而里克与伊尔莎以前是一对情人。伊尔莎请求里克帮助他俩,里克不愿帮忙,但最后帮助他们逃出了卡萨布兰卡.片子表面上讲述了一个令人心碎的爱情故事,实际上却是一个爱国主义电影。
